Job Description & Summary

About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Manager who is solutions-focussed, skilled at building relationships and enjoys being at the heart of change, to upskill and lead an exciting team, providing support to the Audit Line of Service on Independence related matters.

Our commitment to developing new and innovative ways to serve clients, the ongoing climate of regulatory change and the increased focus on globalisation all mean our ability to maintain Independence from Audit clients is ever more business critical. The Independence Hub (“The Hub”) will work closely with SMEs, primarily in the Central Independence Team (“CIT”) and ARQ, to support Audit teams to meet their regulatory Independence responsibilities, as required under PwC Global Independence policy, external regulations (such as SEC and IESBA) and other territories' rules.

The Hub will provide Independence support and guidance to select Audit teams in defined scope areas (initially AFS, CES and business relationships) through an initial pilot launching in Autumn 2024, which will scale over time, in terms of teams served and scope areas covered.

This role is ideal for an ambitious, agile Senior Manager competent in building trusted relationships and upskilling their teams to deliver quality outcomes, whilst being committed to identifying and delivering opportunities for improvement.

What your days will look like:

  • The chance to lead the development, integration and upskilling of a new solutions focussed, agile and dynamic team;
  • Opportunity to lead innovation and improvement in a critical area that is key to PwC’s reputation and brand;
  • Ability to build a network of partners and staff across the firm, as the senior point of contact for The Hub, particularly for engagement teams, ARQ, CIT and AT;
  • Exposure to and opportunity to build trusted relationships with Audit and Independence leaders in a priority area;
  • Ability to enhance and refine influencing and communication skills through managing a variety of stakeholders across grades;
  • Opportunity to develop a deep specialism, through a strong technical base and understanding of how the independence rules apply to our Audit clients; and
  • Opportunity to demonstrate a robust and resilient leadership style, to apply to further development and progression opportunities as The Hub evolves.

This role is for you if:

  • Must possess a Chartered Accountant / ACA / ACCA / ICAS qualification (or an international equivalent);
  • Client service mentality, with strong organisational and project management skills, to lead self and team to deliver outcome focussed, critical independence support to Audit teams;
  • The desire to lead a dynamic team with both an onshore and offshore presence, with excellent coaching, communication and people management skills;
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, resilient and confident to flex approach and deliver difficult messages as required, in liaising with and influencing individuals as the key The Hub contact for senior stakeholders in ARQ, CIT, engagement teams and Audit Transformation (“AT”);
  • Awareness of independence rules and regulations, with ability to lead self and team to upskill, adapt to the evolving Independence landscape, and engage the expertise of subject matter experts (“SMEs”) (primarily CIT and ARQ) to deliver as required;
  • Lead self and team to use skills and digital solutions to develop and implement positive change and process improvements, working with SMEs as appropriate;
  • Quality focussed and able to lead team to deliver defined outputs within Aura for final review by engagement teams;
  • Innovative and driven to maximise the opportunity to safely scale both the Audit teams served and the scope areas covered by The Hub over time; and
  • Experience of managing independence obligations and risk in Audit would be helpful, but not essential, as training on key matters will be provided, together with access to Independence SMEs in CIT and ARQ.
