Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Water Resource Engineer for full-time employment. The position will be based in Denver, Colorado.

In this role, the successful candidate will perform engineering analyses for water resources and dam engineering projects for federal, state, municipal, and private clients. The candidate will serve in a junior level engineer role focused on executing project work and will work under the direct supervision of a licensed professional engineer. Good coordination and collaboration skills will be required in this position.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Perform engineering calculations and assist with the development of hydrologic and hydraulic models
  • Collect and analyze relevant geographical and environmental data
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and other project deliverables
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision
  • Responsible for quality control of small tasks or segments of larger projects
  • Perform field visits and site reconnaissance as dictated by the project requirements
  • Occasional travel outside of local area may be required

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with a focus on Water Resources Engineering, Hydraulics, or a related field.
  • 5 years of professional work experience in the field of water resources and/or dam engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS and other Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
