Head of Tax - High Growth Startup

Our client is a fast-growing firm dedicated to helping tech startups wind down their operations efficiently and effectively. From state withdrawals to full liquidations, they save founders significant time, money, and stress through a highly specialized and streamlined process.

Tasks

Seeking an experienced Head of Tax to lead and build out their tax function. This individual will manage corporate tax compliance, advise on complex wind-downs, and work closely with internal teams to optimize and scale operations.

Requirements

• 5–15 years of experience preparing corporate tax returns, with a strong track record in high-volume environments

• Active EA or CPA license

• Expertise in U.S. corporate tax law, including 1120 filings

• Confident advising clients on complex wind-downs, acquisitions, and related tax matters

• Interest in working with early-stage startups and scaling tax operations

• Proven leadership experience managing tax preparers and bookkeepers

• Strong communicator with a client-focused mindset

• Salary: $175k–$275k + competitive equity

• Location: On-site in Dumbo, Brooklyn (New York City)
