About The Team

This position is within the School of Agricultural Sciences (College of Environmental and Life Sciences) located at our Murdoch South Street Campus. Collaboration with relevant research Centres withing Murdoch, with other research institutions and industry is strongly encouraged, with collaboration an important enabler of School and University strategic plans.

Your New Role!  

As an Academic staff member in the School of Agricultural Science, you will contribute to teaching, research and associated administrative and service functions within the College and across the University, while also engaging in professional activities relevant to your discipline.

This position will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate coursework in the fields of applied animal production and livestock reproduction.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Make substantial contributions to teaching, including curriculum design, delivery, assessment, fieldwork, curriculum review, and use of innovative teaching methods
  • Conduct high-quality research, including quality research publications and success in competitive grant activity, both individually and as part of a team
  • Supervise and advise students across undergraduate, honours, postgraduate, and HDR levels, and engage with industry and external stakeholders to build strategic partnerships
  • Actively contribute to in School and University service activities, engage with the profession and discipline, and undertake administrative duties as required

Lecturer in Animal Science (Level B)

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and supervision to students
  • Develop scholarly research and professional expertise aligned with your discipline
  • Contribute to administrative and service functions within the University.

Senior Lecturer in Animal Science (Level C)

  • Make significant contributions to teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Lead curriculum design, development, and quality assurance processes
  • Advance research and professional practice in your field
  • Provide academic leadership through coordination of learning activities and mentoring of staff.

Associate Professor in Animal Science (Level D)

  • Take a leadership role in mentoring early- and mid-career staff and contribute to the development of teaching and administrative initiatives
  • Make substantial contribution to service at the discipline, College, and University level, including administrative, planning, and committee work

This Continuous | Full Time (37.5 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of

  • Lecturer: $113,247 – $134,148 plus leave loading and 17% employer superannuation
  • Senior Lecturer: $138,321 – $159,219 plus leave loading and 17% employer superannuation
  • Associate Professor: $166,186 – $182,899  plus leave loading and 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Hold a PhD in a relevant discipline such as animal science or veterinary science
  • Experience teaching at undergraduate and post graduate levels
  • A proven record producing high-quality research outputs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrate initiative, work effectively under broad direction, and collaborate successfully within diverse teams

Lecturer (Level B)

  • Possess strong understanding of contemporary curriculum and pedagogical approaches
  • Demonstrated success in designing and delivering high-quality research activities

Senior Lecturer (Level C)

  • Demonstrated success in unit coordination, design and delivery
  • Track record securing and managing competitive external grants
  • Track record supervising postgraduate and HDR students to completion

Associate Professor (Level D)

  • Extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including curriculum design and delivery
  • Proven research track record with national/international impact including success in securing competitive grants and high-quality research outputs
  • Strong track record successful supervision of postgraduate/HDR students and mentoring early/mid-career researchers
  • Effective collaboration, leadership, and communication, contributions to university roles
