Full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 2 years
Base salary will be in the range $80,448.78 - $107,104.10 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level A)
Based at The Prince Charles Hospital
This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Officer to work with leading clinicians and scientists in the field of heart transplantation and donor organ preservation, on a project that has already changed clinical practice and improve patient outcomes. The successful candidate will be supported to take ownership of the project with the group's proven track record of clinical application and translation.
Key responsibilities will include:
Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in leading and coordinating our Heart Transplantation study.
Completion or near completion of a PhD in physiology, cardiology, cardiac transplant, cell or molecular biology, or related field.
Eagerness to learn and demonstrated ability to acquire new knowledge quickly.
Strong ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, flexibility in working hours.
Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding, or a willing to be trained and apply for funding.
Ability to work in an efficient and well-organised manner under pressure.
Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities
Desirable
Knowledge/experience in large animal models
Experience in mitochondria research
Knowledge/experience in working closely with clinical researchers
