Job Description & Summary

About the role

Cyber security is one of the most critical strategic risks facing organisations today, consistently ranked as a top concern by CEOs. Rapid digital transformation, disrupted supply chains and evolving workforces are increasing both the scale and complexity of cyber risk.

PwC helps clients transform with confidence by enabling secure change and long-term cyber resilience. Our UK Cyber Security practice brings together strategy, risk and governance with deep technical delivery and assurance, supported by a team of over 250 specialists. Driven by strong client demand, cyber security remains a key strategic growth area for PwC.

PwC UK provides market‑leading Identity and Access Management (IAM) services, supporting clients across the full IAM lifecycle from strategy and operating model design to technology implementation and optimisation. We help organisations securely enable digital and cloud transformation, govern access, manage identity through change, and evolve towards more automated, risk‑based identity models.

As a Director in IAM, you will lead large-scale programmes across workforce, customer and non‑human identities, shaping and delivering IAM strategies and deploying technologies such as CyberArk, Microsoft Entra and Active Directory, Okta and Saviynt.

What your days will look like

  • Leading the development and delivery of IAM strategies, operating models and transformation roadmaps across multiple sectors
  • Providing senior leadership across complex IAM programmes, often comprising multiple workstreams and technologies
  • Advising clients on IAM best practices, standards and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR, ISO 27001, NIST)
  • Embedding Zero Trust principles and risk-based access models into client IAM architectures
  • Driving business growth through the expansion of IAM offerings and trusted client relationships
  • Leading, mentoring and developing high-performing IAM and cyber security teams
  • Evaluating emerging IAM technologies and approaches, ensuring PwC remains at the forefront of the identity market
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of evolving IAM standards, protocols and regulatory developments

The role is for you if:

  • Extensive experience designing, delivering and operating IAM solutions in large, complex and regulated environments, with a strong focus on Zero Trust and alignment to broader cyber, cloud and enterprise architecture strategies
  • Deep hands‑on and architectural expertise across leading IAM platforms including CyberArk, Microsoft identity technologies (Active Directory, Entra ID), Okta, Ping, SailPoint and Saviynt, operating at scale in cloud‑first and hybrid environments
  • Strong understanding of core identity capabilities such as access management, federation, identity governance, privileged access, non‑human identities, and certificate, key and cryptographic services, including PKI and certificate lifecycle management
  • Expert knowledge of authentication and authorisation standards and protocols including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML and Kerberos, with awareness of emerging concepts such as crypto‑agility and quantum‑resilient identity approaches
  • Experience advising on and implementing modern identity capabilities including ITDR, ISPM and shared IAM services frameworks, delivering solutions in line with recognised standards such as NIST, ISO 27001 and CSA
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior executives and technical stakeholders, translating IAM outcomes into tangible business value
  • Significant experience in cyber security roles with a strong specialism in Identity and Access Management, supported by a degree in computer science, information systems or equivalent professional experience, and relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CIAM or SABSA or have equivalent work experience. This includes international candidates who qualify through experience in their home country.
